N.B. Change of departure time!!

0600 hrs: meet in Chapel car park to pack coach. 0615 hrs Bowen's Coach to LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT where a representative of Edwin Doran Sports Travel will assist with check-in no later than 0930 hrs to Qantas Airways Flight QF32 - scheduled to depart at 1215 hrs.

Overnight in flight (duration: 12 hrs 45 mins).

Wednesday 24 July
On arrival into SINGAPORE at 0800 hrs, we will clear Immigration & Customs before being met by our Guide who will escort us on our pre-booked Half-Day City Sightseeing Tour. Visits will be made to Little India, the Singapore River, Chinatown, the magnificent Sri Mariammam Temple and National Orchid Garden as well having a glimpse of the famous Raffles Hotel. The weather in Singapore will be hot and humid. Please take this into account when deciding what clothing to wear for the air flight!

Following the end of the tour, we will be delivered to the hotel where the entire group will be accommodated for two nights on a Room & Breakfast basis

PENINSULA HOTEL
3 Coleman Street
SINGAPORE 0617
Tel: (00 65) 337 2200
Fax: (00 65) 339 3580

If rooms are not immediately available we will drop off our luggage and head off for some lunch, returning at a prearranged time to check in.

Remainder of day at leisure with perhaps an opportunity to stretch our legs on the Padang situated across the road from our hotel. In the evening we might eat at one of the wide variety of restaurants along Boat Quay or Clarke Quay - within walking distance of our hotel.

It is important to remember that Singapore has a strict code of personal conduct laws and that infringing them will result in 'on-the-spot' fines or even imprisonment. In the worst scenario, you could be stuck there on your own for the remainder of the tour and beyond! I attach some Foreign office advice. Please read it through! We would like to give you free time in Singapore to sightsee as suits each of you but cannot do so unless we are clear that you can appreciate the need to be responsible and to go round in groups of 4 or more for the sake of safety. We don't think it will be wise to be out after dark, unless we are all out together for some specific purpose, such as a meal.

Thursday 25 July
Morning and early afternoon at leisure for further sightseeing and shopping, perhaps visiting some of the many shops and plazas in the famous Orchard Road, before assembling back at the hotel no later than 1400 hrs for the transfer at 1430 hrs to our first fixtures, versus SINGAPORE HOCKEY FEDERATION and SINGAPORE CRICKET & SPORTS CLUB:

1600 hrs SCC HOCKEY XI vs SOLIHULL SCHOOL 1st XI

The 1st XI will be hosted at a reception at the ground by their opposition. The 2nd XI will warm up for their game.

1800 hrs SCC HOCKEY XI vs SOLIHULL SCHOOL 2nd XI

Following the game, the entire group will return to the hotel. The 2nd XI will change before walking the short distance to an Official Reception at the Singapore Cricket Club, hosted by their opposition.

Friday 26 July
We will need to check out of our rooms after breakfast but luggage may be stored with the Concierge whilst we have most of the day to continue sightseeing

Reassemble at the hotel no later than 1600 hrs, ready for our transfer at 1630 hrs to SINGAPORE AIRPORT where we need to check in no later than 1715 hrs for Qantas Airways Flight QF78 - scheduled to depart at 1925 hrs (flight duration 4 hrs 55 mins).

Saturday 27 July
On arrival into PERTH at 0025 hrs, we will need to clear Australian Immigration & Customs. Shoes may need to be cleaned - for once - before being packed after the Singapore fixtures! We will be met at the airport and transferred to the City Stay Apartments where the entire group will be accommodated for one night (rooms having been reserved from 26 July) on a Room Only basis:

Monday 5 August

Hosts will assemble the Boys at 0830 hrs at Bankstown Sports Club. We will have most of the day available for sightseeing in Sydney. We may well start by taking the train into the city (approximately 30 mins) to begin our exploration. An enjoyable and inexpensive way of seeing this famous Harbour - as well as the Opera House and Bridge from the water - is to take the ferry from Circular Quay across to Manly (approximately 30 mins) where we can stroll down to the beach.

The Rocks area, close to Circular Quay, is where the first settlement grew up in the early 1800s and in the 1970s the area was re-developed and is now one of Sydney's most interesting and atmospheric areas, with cobbled streets and fine buildings housing shops, restaurants and cafés. A walking tour with guide can be arranged at the local tourist office in the Rocks.

Another suggestion would be to take the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo - reputedly one of the best kept and laid out zoos in the world inhabited by kangaroos, koalas, echidnas and dingos as well as other exotic creatures.

Return to meet up with hosts at 1730 hrs at the Bankstown Sports Club.

Tuesday 6 August

Hosts will again assemble the Boys at 0830 hrs at Bankstown Sports Club, following which we will have some free time before being collected by coach at 1100 hrs for the transfer to Homebush for our pre-booked tour of the Olympic "Stadium Australia".

Following the end of the tour, we will be transferred to the Hockey Astro in time to prepare for our next fixtures:

1500 hrs: SYDNEY JUNIORS XI vs SOLIHULL SCHOOL 1st XI

1630 hrs: SYDNEY JUNIORS XI vs SOLIHULL SCHOOL 2nd XI

Following the games, we will be transferred back to meet up with hosts before dispersing with them to their homes.

Wednesday 7 August

Having been assembled by hosts at 0830 hrs, we will again have the opportunity to travel into the City for a final day of sightseeing or even some shopping in busy George Street. Some might feel that a trip to Sydney would not be complete without a visit to Bondi Beach - which can be reached by bus from the city centre.

The Amp Sydney Tower offers the best view in town from its observation deck at 850 feet and is well worth a visit. The admission charge also includes a 35-minute Sky Tour (a simulated ride across Australia).

Return to meet up with hosts at 1830 hrs for our final evening in Sydney.

Thursday 8 August

The party will be assembled by hosts at Bankstown Sports Club ready to depart at 0830 hrs for the transfer to SYDNEY AIRPORT where we need to check in no later than 0930 hrs for Qantas Airways Flight QF770 - scheduled to depart at 1035 hrs (flight duration 3 hrs).
